How to Export User Activity Logs

Exporting user activity logs allows you to generate a CSV file containing the activity history for external auditing and analysis outside the platform. See how to perform this process below.

1st Step: Accessing the System Logs Administration Module

In the lower left side menu, click “Settings” to access “System Logs” (eye icon), located in the upper left corner of the screen, to the right of “Card Tracker” (magnifying glass icon).

2nd Step: Preparing the Logs to Be Exported

  1. (Optional) Apply filters if you want to export only a subset of records. Click “Filter” in the records tab and define criteria such as Action, Entity, User, or Created At.

  2. Click “Apply” to update the log list according to the selected filters.

Note: If no filters are applied, all log records will be exported.

3rd Step: Exporting the Logs to CSV

  1. In the upper right corner of the “System Logs” tab, click the "Export" button represented by the download icon.

  2. A confirmation window will appear requesting the generation of the CSV file.

  3. Click “Confirm” to start the download.

4th Step: Downloading and Verifying the CSV File

  1. The download will start automatically and the file will be saved in your computer’s downloads folder, usually with a name in the format octapipe-user-logs-YYYYMMDD.csv.

  2. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet editor such as Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc to validate the content. The file will contain columns such as:

  • entity (Pipeline, User, Automation, etc.)
  • action (Create, Update, Delete, Verify)
  • user (name of the user who performed the action)
  • user_uuid (unique user identifier)
  • record_uuid (unique identifier of the modified record)
  • created_at (date/time of the action)

Best Practices:

  • Apply filters beforehand to avoid generating excessively large files.
  • Verify that the exported columns contain all necessary information.
  • Store the CSV in a secure location and keep a backup.
  • Rename the file to indicate date and scope (e.g., logs-20250611-filtered.csv).
  • Share the file only with authorized individuals.

Conclusion:

In this article, you learned how to export the user activity history in octapipe to a CSV file, from accessing the System Logs tab to verifying the generated file. If you have any questions, contact our support team.
